BBC News - Focus DIY seeking administration

Unfortunately going through liquidation process. Possibly some bargins might come up. My brother works for them, so is likely to lose his job, which will be a big shame.

Our's is a waist of time, they've never got anything in what they advertise. So this doesn't surprise me. Bit of a sod your brother might be loosing his job though.

The ones near us are the most depressing places to visit; the lighting is rubbish and the staff; well, I am sure your Bro is good but sheesh...round here worse than useless.

Not a surprise in all honesty.

I agree, the one near us is pants, the one my brother works at is a bit better. He's had a bad couple of years, after being bullied out of the company he had worked for for 10 years, which made him ill, then earlier this year he split up with his long term girlfriend and has had to move back in my parents. I hope he'll pull his finger out and start looking sooner rather than later.

I used to work for them on weekends. They are the only 'DIY superstore' in Skipton, so they'll be hugely missed if they go. The Skipton one is lovely, lots of the staff have worked there for over a decade, they remember customers and go out of their way to find answers and sort out problems. The garden centre chap is a proper gardener who looks after his plants too.

ours is rubbish they never have any stock (now we know why) and staff are surly I was gonna go yesterday but decided to wait and got everything in homebase 8 miles away today. Seems like others do the same - so no surprises.

The branches nearest me closed years ago. Shame really because at least then we had some competition for B&Q and Homebase.

gotta admit, as soon as I saw the news I thought, ooh bargains.. but then thought "" about the staff loosing their jobs.

Shame really, as "Do-It-All" was an iconic brand when I was growing up in the DIY scene..

I have one local to me as well which (along with only a couple of others in Scotland) had a 33% off everything sale several weeks ago. It was like watching a crowd of locusts strip a field bare

Unfortunately it looks like this may well have been the reason - trying to bring cash in in a hurry.
