  • Flying Ants!

I don't usually pay much attention to what Chris Moyles has to say~in fact don't usually listen~but this a.m he was warning that today would be "flying ant day".Just got back from trip to shops & they're everywhere!!Our garden is the same! Hate the things~2nd only to wasps in horrible creature category.Just hope he was right when he said the plague only lasts a day!!

There were millions of little midgey things y'day when i was cycling. hitting me in the face, the goggles and down me top. Gross.

I don't mind bees or wasps, but flying ants freak me out. They're so big and crawly and disgusting.

Noticed a few on the plot last night - it was really humid and that always seems to get them out.

        Hate the chuffin things too.

I think I'm going to drive home a little faster than usual (but still within the limit!) tonight and to try and squish as many of them with my windscreen. Then wash them straight off with lots of screen wash.

My car needs a clean anyway.

They were in swarms. They bring a lot of seagulls with them too... loads and loads of them in the sky.

There's been a flock of seagulls on the playing field for much of the day~hopefully they've munched them all away!!

oh how strange, i haven't seen any flying ants all day, but there were hundreds of seagulls flying round in the distance earlier, i thought that was weird as we normally only get the occasional one being as how we are nowhere near the sea or any rubbish dumps.

                    well now i know why

                      Ants.

Lots of Seagulls around here last 2 days, flying ants everywhere, they are really showing up were the cobwebs are.

There was a swarm leaving my compost bin yesterday, fantastic to see, particular as they flew up into the neighbours washing on the line.

Thinking about it, I noticed a huge flock of seagulls squalling over the allotments y'day ... so there are flying ants around (I've been locating and drowning all my nests)

we have the flying ants every year, and arn't some of them whopers, and the gulls doing fly pasts, makes a change from the flippin heron eyeing up the pond, and the screeching canada geese.

We haven`t had any yet, I`m hoping I got rid of the nests last year with ant killer.
