I have just heard that a policeman has gone missing after the stone bridge he was standing on was washed away in the floods. I think that is awful and cannot comprehend the horrors that people are having to deal with there.

I do hope that no grapes are caught up in this horror and if anyone cannot contact their relatives that are in the area, my thoughts are with you and hope you hear from them soon.

      Me too!

One of my friends has only recently moved back into his house.
My then-girlfriend's father made a mint out of it because he bought and sold caravans. The insurance companies would buy them, house people in them while their houses were being repaired and then sell them back for less.

The water levels up this way are only just going down from the two previous floods we've had recently. You may have seen on the news that an elderly farmer was washed away and tragically drowned in his tractor while trying to move his beasts to safetly. My partner is a cop and had to deal with the fallout of the weather and water up here, so to think of what has happened to the police officer down south is horrific. I just hope he is found safe clinging on to a rock or bank further down stream. Long shot, but not impossible...

It's hard to comprehend the terror and feeling of helplessness which people must be feeling when having to deal with such devastating floods .

So glad I live on a hill, if I was flooded then the town would be completly under water.
Just feel so sorry for those involved whose houses are flooded.
Hope they find the policeman soon.

I saw this with dread, this morning, on the news. I hope he's found alive and that the floods ease sooner, rather than later.

BBC News - Cumbria floods: Body found in hunt for policeman
It doesn't sound good I'm afraid. A terrible thing to happen.

I would think they'd know immediately if it was him (assuming he was in uniform).

                      Sad news.

Watched the news with sadness this morning, so many people homeless due to the flooding and only a few weeks away from Christmas. Sad news about the policeman, poor soul.
