No it's not a Rant.................I notice that several grapes have trouble adding photos the right way up. They're either on their side or upside down, I've constantly got neck ache (only joking) & thought it would be useful if we gathered some info on how we add photos the right way up.
Personally all my photos are edited with "Microsoft Picture Manager" then inserted onto my post. Have never had any problems............what's your preferred method?

My photos are always the right way up in photo editor (or whatever it's called) I attach them....and lo and behold!
    sideways.

I have no idea why and it only happens here. Spooky

I use Microsoft Picture Manager, like BM, preview the post before submitting it and its always OK.

Just so's you know, the Mod's don't have a Magic photo rotavator. We save your photos to our computers and edit them using Picture Manager or whatever software we use, then repost your photos.
I wish there was a magic wand we could wave instead. I'm forever finding images on my computer that I don't recognise as my own - and puzzling about when I could have taken them

Ditto... normally editted before posting and it's pot luck which way up they go. Sometimes when adding straight from my phone they also look right on the phone and in the attachement manager but then flip when posted up?!?!

It's quite strange how the vine chooses to flip sʇuǝɯɥɔɐʇʇɐ.

VC, the easiest way is to save to desktop & title as .. spin .. then if necessary you can add numbers to get the correct order in the post, the bin them immediately after posting.

Members, if you use the Preview button before posting you will see if pictures are orientated correctly

I do save them to my desktop BB, honest - but I admit to having a lot of clutter on there

I click on that paperclip thing and add photos that way. They're always the right way up.

I'm on the iPad...when I try to upload photos they look the right way up until I post and then some flip sideways...no idea why some go sideways and others stay as the should...the right way up!

Sometimes I take photos with my phone which look OK on the phone but then look sideways/upside down on other computers. I believe that this is due to the orientation of the phone. I think that the phone writes something into the EXIF information (information such as ISO, exposure, held inside of the photo) but this isn't picked up by other software. It may also be that when the photo is uploaded to the servers it is then revealed and the orientation info is removed.

On my android phone I have an app called Photo Editor which I can open a photo and then resave it which then corrects this issue (I'm also able to crop it if necessary)

I wondered whether the "orientation of the phone" might be the problem. Its the same with the camera - photos taken with the camera on its side upload sideways and have to be edited before posting.

I don't use any of these new fangled gadgets like phones and Ipads etc, so have no idea really
