  • Finally things are on the up!

Feeling really happy so I wanted to share with you grapes.
My son has cerebral palsy and for the last few years has been going through a really tough time, getting angry and frustrated. He has had several school changes and this hasn't been easy particularly as some of the schools haven't been good.
This year he moved on to high school and we were fortunate enough to get him into a really excellent school.
For the first time his support workers are actually supporting him to do things for himself instead of taking the easy option of doing it for him so his reading has really come on and he can at last write without a keyboard!
he was a year down and his last school insisted on moving him up to the 'correct year'. As an August Birthday he is only 2 weeks off the year below anyway!
His new school have suggested and agreed with us that he should redo year 7. The main reason being that he struggles in large class groups and they are introducing a new form next year with only around 10 kids in it which will be much better for him. He and we are thrilled
The icing on the cake has been the 2 kittens we aquired a few weeks ago. They have been really calming for him!
His school term finished yestaerday and this moring I am listening to the dolcet tones of him singing in his room and chatting to his kittens.
He really is like a different child!
Thank you school and thank you kittens! (you're even forgiven for the odd kitty truffle given the joy and happiness you have brought)

That's lovely, classes with 10 kids - what a brill idea. Almost like the old days.

Yes it's a great idea. They plan to have one small form group per year which will move up with the kids.
The school was private until 2 years ago so didn't have a lot of kids with special needs. They are doing a fantastic job of assessing individual needs and catering to them whilst providing a superb education and ensuring inclusiveness

That's excellent...a shame it had to take so long, but to have finally found a school so keen on ensuring all their pupils needs are met is fantastic!
Too many kiddies are missing out on not just a decent education, but also all the social stuff that goes alongside learning in a good school, just because either the funding or enthusiasm's not there to cater for them...the govt really need to pull their fingers out to ensure this happens for all kids!
Well Done finding somewhere for him to hopefully excel & carry on being happy...Enjoy the Summer hols!...we've still got two weeks to go!
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx

Having experienced the not so good I know that we are very fortunate!
I wish this kind of educational/social excellence in school was available for all kids!

                Thats great news Incy
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Superb news. Perhaps more schools should trial the small class idea

I'm really pleased for you and your son Incy.
That kind of school experience should be automatic - but sadly it's not.
And it's great that your son is getting so much pleasure from the kittens. It will make all the difference to his life.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

With some of the teribble things that have happend of late on the vine...What a heart warming story, i've got tears in my eyes too, but also a big smile on my face as well, its so nice to hear that your son is actually getting the help he needs so he can be a little bit more independent, good schools and teachers are hard to come by, and the love of those 2 kittens sounds like the tonic you all need. xx

Great news Incy. Does'nt the world seem like a different place when our children are happy and fulfilled.
So pleased for you and your son.
Hope you both have a happy summer holiday from school.

Fantastic news. Why does it take so long to find somewhere where people realise that people whose lives are more difficult need more help, love and care, not less?

Hope you have a great summer.
