Not been on a ferry many times - my first time was when I went to N.Ireland with my dad when I was about 14. The crossing took 9 hours (Liverpool - Belfast) and was overnight. I felt sick as a dog, but managed not to vomit - people were running backwards and forwards with sick bags, but I lasted out. Had to try and sleep on one of the seats.

It fealt much like this looks...

I once carried a 2 pence peice in my hand on a crossing. Didn't feel sick once.

We go Portsmouth to St Malo next Wednesday overnight. Not back until January. Carful of Christmas all the way down to Spain!!

Nicos, on the rare occasions I go back to the UK I always fly. Its cheaper nowadays to fly and hire a car than it is to take the ferry.
My last 3 return flights to the UK have cost me the princely sum of 12.77p including taxes. I know you want to go back for xmas and so flights are more difficult to come by, but I have friends coming over very early January, 3 adults for less than 30 quid.
Not sure where the nearest major airport is to you, possibly Rennes or maybe Dinard but keep your eyes out for bargains. Of course if you're taking a dog or cat then you dont have an option.
HilaryB, if you get off at St. Malo, about an hour south you will see a longere, chez Leponge. Could you just go and check my all year round carrots that Lainey Lou gave me and let me know how they're getting on please?
                    Thanks

Bobleponge- Yep Rennes is the nearest but flights are on the wrong dates (OH works and isn't very flexible)

I'll have to be fine...I have my vomit bowl and we have a cabin so I can drape myself over the bed ( bit like being drunk for 6 hrs!!!!)

                        Oh the joys of travel!

Eurotunnel is my only way to travel to France, I did the ferry for the first time this year to see Scarey - but never again!!
....erm, I mean never the ferry again not never Scarey again

And did I ever tell you that FiL is a share-holder of the tunnel - he has always found it amusing to be a stake-holder in the largest overdraft ever

                          Safe trip me lil poppet

We normally fly but hate it .....this Xmas we are going back to engerland by train...takes all day ...5 hours from Cahors to Paris...change station then Paris to London....more expensive but should be more fun and can take more luggage...i have got a senior persons rail card so get a reduction and can save smiles (train miles) going on the 16th back on the 29th.......
