  • Feeling very sad

I have thought quite hard about posting this today.
My best friend died this morning after a courageous run with cancer. Some of you may remember I wrote about her on the friends thread. I will miss her more than I can express but she has given me so much in the time that I have known her.

She died with peace and dignity at a Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. These places receive no government funding whatsoever. This is not an appeal for your sympathy but if you would like to take a look at my signature, go for it.

It's sad to lose anyone you love - and friends no less than family. You can choose your friends! I'm sure you're sad today but one day you'll remember the good things and they'll outweigh the sorrow eventually.

Hugely brave of you to write about it already love. As I'm sure you know, there's tons of shoulders for you here if you need them, and my 2 ears as well. xxx

I've visited your sig. already, and will continue to do so whenever I can. These Hospices, and their outreach services are invaluable, and deserve everyone's support. In our area it is Sue Ryder hospices that provide this care, and I'm sure everybody has something similar nearby that would appreciate some help.

              Lots of love Fi. xxx

Very sad - but at least you shared a friendship which the parting of the ways will not break and the memories of happier times will sustain you going forward.

Bit of a sad day all round here today with another Grape losing a loved one.

Even if you can't reach all of 'em.

Sorry to hear Fi, cancer touches so many of us and is never particularly nice about it.

Can only echo what other, more eloquent, grapes have already said.

                        Thinking of you.

Very sorry hear your news. As you say hospices and cancer charities do a wonderful job supporting the person and those around them. There are so many of us who have been touched by cancer in some way, and those charities are invaluable. Thankyou for your posting and reminding us to support them if we can. Our local one in leeds is St Gemmas. Thinking of you
