  • Favourite Summer Food?

What food says 'Summer' to you?

Would it be strawberries & cream, or ice creams, or barbeques?

My personal favourite is freshly dug baby new potatoes with butter & mint. I could eat them for Britain.

Summer, for me, is broadies! And, of course, the butter to go with them!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Guess what we are having for our Sunday dinner and will continue to have until the tatties run out!

When I first worked away from home I would go home on my days off and raid the garden for my lunch before my parents got home. Always the same - new potatoes (with butter), runner beans and a fried egg - even now I love it!!

ooh, I'm spoilt for choice, but once we start getting everything from the garden then Summer has begun for me.

If pushed it would have to be raspberries
closely followed by runner beans and new potatoes (dripping with butter and loads of mint)

That's my favourite as well, and I'll be digging some Pentland javelin up in about 30 minutes

Almost the same as yours...baby new potatoes, just for me they're best roasted.
That and courgettes...pickled and eaten with crusty bread and cheese

The BH is heavily into frittata at present, made with anything he can get his hands on to put in them.

Eggs from the chooks, peas, tomatoes and courgettes from the garden, or anything leftover from other meals, or scraps from the fridge like the heel end of some cheese.

                        Strawberries,raspberries,any cakes with fruit.
New potatoes with butter and dill, cuke or tomato salad on the side.
                        Beetroot soup(summer version with leaves)
French beans or cauli served with butter and breadcrumbs.
Tomato on bread with sprinkle of sea salt, black pepper and spring onions.
                        Anything with herbs.

I think I'm turning into vegetarian in the summertime-there's so much choice as what to eat veggiewise that meat could not exist for me

I had a huge handful of yellow raspberries today...lovely. They always remind me of my Grandad's house in Invershin.

New potatoes, freshly dug with butter and chopped herbs. I doo like them with cold meats and a salad on a hot day. Satisfying without being a heavy meal.
