Default Family stuff

So, me and my family don't get along too well, as some who remember the Mother's Day thread may recall. About 10 years ago my sister disappeared to Spain with her latest consort, never to be heard of again and I've stayed vaguely in touch with her daughter on and off since coming to France.

On line yesterday and suddenly a message pops up that somebody had put a message on Facebook for me. Looked at it and it's my great neice (aged 23, living in Essex) asking whether I'm her Uncle Tony and how the family is looking for me to get back together again.

So, a few replies back and forth and suddenly, I've got a message from my sister who lives in Southern Spain, down near Gibraltar, she's remarried (poor bugger, he wont last, none of them ever do) but she's obviously happy and so are her kids/grandchildren, all of whom I've now posted messages to on Facebook and had chats with.

Funny old world - and shrinking every minute! No place to hide at all - and for those that remember, my sister feels exactly the same about my Mum, just make sure the stake is still in place every year.

Oh Tony, how exciting for you.

I am so pleased that you have found your Sister again. Facebook, and the World Wide interweb generally can be great places for finding people you thought were lost to you.

How lovely to hear that your family are all doing well - just remember to keep on hammering the stake in every now and then or you'll get a facebook message that you don't want

AARRGGGHHHHH!
You have just reminded me that my parents are coming to visit for the weekend
I asked if they could bring me some teabags (yes, sad I know) and they said that they wouldn't fit in the case as they only want to bring one..
can't wait until tuesday
Glad i'm not the only one with problem parents.

I had never met my dad's family at all until last year when I bumbled through friends reunited to try and find my cousin - found her and the rest of my dad's family and I've since met with them a few times and have been heartily accepted back into that side of the family!

T'internet's a wonderful thing sometimes!

Glad you found your sister - there's nothing worse than wondering all the time

Funny old world indeed! Personally, I dread a black sheep or two in my family tracking me down via the 'net but it's lovely to hear stories of long lost friends and family being reunited
