We have a garage with electric lights & power to open the big door.

Wednesday night I flicked the switch, and nothing happened. It was raining hard that night (but that's not unusual). Nothing blew or flicked, there was just no power at all.

I've checked & changed the fuse, it's not that. I can't see how the power gets to the garage either... the fuse box & main cables are above the small door.

Presumably the power has to come from the house somehow, but I can't see where or how. Two blokes have looked at it, and they are stumped too. Anyone got any ideas?

    Please help,

Madmax is asking if you can post a piccie of the fuse box to see if he can work out anything from that

            OK, some piccies.
            1) all the wires above the garage door
            2) the fuse box is the one on the right
            3) here I've taken out the fuse

Where is the supply coming from into the garage TS? I have my power run from the house and there is a trip switch there as well.
It's to my shed/ workshop - terraces don't have garages!

Using my very small electrickery knowledge, that is a fused spur (think thats the name) not the fuse box.
There will be a cable that goes into the back of that fused spur, follow that back as far as it will go.
If there is no visible cable, ie at height above the garage going to the house, I would suggest its underground.
Have a look at the fuse box in your house, that is where the power "should" come from, and make sure that nothing has tripped on there. I cant remember exactly but I think that if stuff goes outside then it should have its own circuit, so you may see one of the fuses has switched off.
If no joy post again and I will think harder.

Like Bob - I'd recommend looking at the main fuse box to see if one of the switches has tripped.

                      follow the grey cable back.
check above the garage and see if it's spurred off one of the sockets upstairs.

I did. It ends there, where you see it.

the garage is 10 foot from the house. Obviously the cable goes underground, so how to fix?

I meant in the opposite direction
it goes down the wall to where?
the piece that goes behind that hardboard, is that connected or does that go somewhere?

Taff, and everyone, thanks for your time and trouble.

It's now too dark to see in the garage (what with having no lights). I'll have a proper look in the morning

What's it powering in the garage TS?........Lights & sockets or just lights. I was wondering the obvious that the bulb/tube had blown. Mine is run from the house to the garage but has a separate fuse box inside the garage. Sorry I can't be of more help.
