    2 eggs, 1/2 pt (ish)milk and dunk in the bread both sides and fry in Flora.


    serve with maple syrup ...and anything which goes into a full English breakfast.

      I whisk eggs in a shallow bowl, coat thick bread on both sides and bung in a hot frypan fry till golden both sides and serve with tomato ketchup

        no milk Shirl????

        (First time I ever heard of it was in the film Kramer vs Kramer when Dustin Hoffman was making it with his son)

          We're a two-sauce family, him red me brown

          I've never tried it with milk Nicos, (ETA) I do same as Shirl, will give it a go though

              If I am short on eggs then I sometimes add a splash of milk to make it up a bit.

                  Oh god I love eggy bread, I can eat half a bottle of tomato sauce when I eat it.

                  In response to the original question. I shout into the kitchen, "make me some eggy bread love" and it magically appears

                  I do have to get the ketchup myself though.

                    Actually- it's more like 1/4 pt of milk maybe- sort of a 'darn good slosh of milk!'

                    Gawd- I should pay more attention to what I chuck into my cooking- no wonder everything I make tastes different all the time!

                      Only a splash of milk!

                      But you really need to soak the bread in the egg mixture for a good few minutes, at least 7-10...

                      Fry in veg/sunflower oil and serve with ketchup/brown sauce... also goes surprisingly well with my chilli jam

                        We had a variation on this for an outback breakfast when camping in Australia. Just bread, eggs and black pepper in a frying pan. It was one of the few things that we could carry around that wouldn't ruin in the heat.

                        Anyone else call it Gypsy toast though?
