  • egg tray charges

Went into my local butchers to get some more egg trays for chitting and they told me NO, you cannot have any, asked why? They said that the egg woman was recycling them........i said well i need them for chitting, they wanted a £1 a tray........i need 8 trays....i declined, so I am off to market tomorrow in hoping that the eggman will be there (fingers crossed with the snow) and hope he has some.

    Anyone else come across this?

my family save their egg boxes for the eggs I give them, wouldn't want to pay for them!

I think your butcher is a bit mean, couldn't you say you'd bring them back in 6 weeks lol

i got some module seed tray thingies last year, that i'm not using for seeds yet, the bigger ones are perfect for chitting spuds, narrow windowsills might need a tray though, as they fall off ........ ok not exactly free but you can use em for seed sowing later

We buy our eggs from the local egg farm, so the trays come with the eggs. Have you anywhere you could buy eggs by the tray? It does depend how many you use though, unless you could share with family or neighbours.
