  • eek..... how do i tell them?

i made some soup today, put in some pearl barley and saw some brown "bits" float to the top, didn't think anything of it till i added the grated carrot as once the soup tuned a nice orangy colour the brown bits were still there, to be honest i thought it was just a bit of starchy scum........... once soup was ready i turned of heat and had a closer look........ yep i think i had added a little extra protien in the form of some kind of grain beetle!!! anyway i thought i'd just let it cool then chuck the lot in the bin, i went out whilst it cooled. Forgot to warn the family not to touch the soup.... got home to find half the pot gone!!!!! Do i tell them?????

                  harharhar!

My sister and I once added some garden soil to a 'special' pan of chilli. We had really nasty bitchy housemates who would steal our food if they liked it, or put extra chilli in if they didn't. Among other things. They stole money too

I'm afraid I agree with the others, you have to carry this one VL - now put it from your mind, much worse has been eaten by veggies and meat-eaters alike

No, you don't need to tell them 'cos I'm sure lots of us have eaten grain beetles over the years unknowingly from all sorts of sources, just one of those things. It would only gross them out and make them feel bad.

As you said yourself - extra protein! You're sooo good to your family!

                            I wouldn't tell them though.
