  • eBay gone mad

I know eBay are tightening up their policies, with regards to counterfeit goods, and selling knives etc, but this is just daft.

I got a Red Alert today that said this:

Re: your listing girls coat as new

Why did we remove your listing?

Your listing(s) contains the following keyword spamming:

    as new

Keyword spamming is not permitted on eBay. Keyword spamming is using brand names or other inappropriate keywords in an item title or description for the purpose of gaining attention or diverting buyers to a listing.

Where is the tightening up on knives? I bought a penknife last week on ebay with no trouble whatever!

It is getting to the point where it isn't worth selling on ebay any more - their charges have gone so silly.

There was a feature on Nicky Campbell's programme, where he bought a load of nasty daggers and flick-knives, and a chap from eBay came on and announced a blanket ban on knife sales

Hmm, perhaps penknives don't count as knives then?

WOW looks like I was lucky to get my knife then. I must say I was surprised to be able to buy the penknife on ebay - I thought they were already a banned item.

How are you wording your coat now then?

E- bay have gone a bit mental but I think there's a method in their madness.
I think they really want to change how they operate and be more like Amazon.
They want to get rid of all the traders who just operate in a very small way. That's why they have hiked their charges to make it just not worthwhile and introduced small changes which make it more difficult and less profitable. Well, that's how it looks to me.

I had some of my ads pulled because as well as payment by Paypal I said I would accept, cheques, postal orders and well disguised cash at buyers own risk!
I should have left it as it was i.e i will accept ANY form of payment!

A postal order costs 10% of it's value to send it!

lol I Advertised a DVD called WANTED and had it banned cos apparently it was a counterfeight, cos i listed it the day AFTER it had been released.......i contacted EBAY and they gave me some cock and bull story that they had evidence it was pirated, I asked them to provide this evidence, the then put my account as failing....... I am now back to normal.

Knives - pah I bought one the other day for lottie, you cannot even sell a set of kitchen knives on thier now, I fully understand why but if Nicky Campbell came out and said BASEBALL bats were proving to be popular amongst the youth culture, would ebay ban them?

Ranting....Oh and WANTED was not a counterfeight......still got it cos they wont let me sell it lol
Dont worry about tomorrow, live for today

Another daft thing is Guernsey pound notes sell for something silly on e-bay. I actually know the bloke whose signature is on the notes at present - wonder if I'd get more for his autograph on them

OH sells doll's house items. One of which is a set of 12th scale Victorian Banknotes.

EBay barred them as counterfeit goods. We pointed out that we have a licence from The Bank of England to produce them (yes we do really have a licence to print money).

I can fully realise EBays point of view, people could easily confuse this Victorian money with modern money, I know that the value of money is shrinking but...

They would not accept a scanned copy of our licence document, we had to get the BoE to contact them to authorise it.
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.
