I'd like to go, but transport is always an issue.

      Cheers!
Could you not persuade Mr Sheds that a drive across the border would be a nice Valentines treat? You could have a fish & chip supper at Dunwich on the way home!

It's not worth the bother. He says he doesn't mind, but then when we get to places he wants to leave after half an hour.
also, I don't think my blood pressure could survive 4 hrs in the car with him ~ we have major disagreements about the validity of the speed limit ... he assumes it is a minimum speed limit

If you were able to get a train to Bury St Edmunds I would be happy to pick you up and drive the rest of the way to Stonham Barns as I would go through Bury on the way. Do you have a service to Bury from your local station?

that's sweet of you, but no ... it's 3 miles to our rail station, then the line only goes to Norwich. You have to change at Norwich to get to anywhere else It would take me 2 and a half hrs to get to Bury, with 2 changes. Nightmare
                thanks for the offer though

I tried the spud day twice. The first time at giffords hall where Dr Shaw gave a talk on blight and the sarpo was stil in it's infancy trials. I next went to the one at stonham. Alan Romans talk was good and I did get his book signed by the man himself. The first trip was fun the second not so. I personally only grow a few spuds for family and to travel to stonham, pay to get in, and buy a few seeds is not really viable. My friend is a member of organic gardeners and said last year that they were suprised thatb so many were there an hour before it opened and were pushing and shoving like a sale day to get in. Where's the fun in that? I since have not bothered going to spud day and now get my spuds locally. I also went to t&m's open day, again never no more 2 quid to get in after a twenty mile drive, very little to see and every one pushing around. It would seem to me that it has all got very comercialised and they just want your money. In these financial times who can blame them. In and this is my own personel view it has taken a lot of the fun out of it. Never mind, see you all there.
