  • Earth Hour 2012

Is anyone else here turning off their lights for an hour tomorrow evening - 8.30pm 31st March? Earth Hour is a world wide event to celebrate the brilliance of our planet Earth. Many of the great cities and monuments around the world will be turned off too.
I've joined in for the last 3 years - why don't you join in too? Earth Hour UK | Our world is brilliant, help us keep it that way

We are out for the evening- but usually leave a light on in the house- especially at the front door ( no street lights to find the keyhole by!). So we'll turn them all off and take a torch with us instead! Thanks for the reminder!

I would do it if I thought all my neighbours would, we're all so tightly packed together.

However, it doesn't take much for me to sit outside in the dark for a bit with all the lights off at the back of the house. In the past I have come back in and OH is wandering around asking daughters 'Where's your mother?'

The best place to be would be at lottie but if my torch failed I'd be a bit scared. I'll see if OH is up for it. Thanks for the reminder.

from Neighbourhood Watch: contrary to popular belief, most burglaries occur during the daytime, more in the summer months and often where residents have left a door or window open, perhaps to do some gardening

and another site said "most occur between 10am and 3pm" (when people are out at work).

I've been burgled twice, and both times were during the day

Why though? I'm more likely to do things that my neighbours wouldn't

Yep I'll be doing this again this year. Usually I burn a candle and watch telly with all the lights out!

Hmmm, maybe I will go outside with the telescope and see the stars without too much light interference.
