Do you need a gaming licence to sell domino cards at allotments to aid funds?

What are Domino Cards Snadge?
The local council should have a dept which can help you with that one.
I know if you are raising funds for a registered charity the rules are different than fund-raising for something private. IE you can play bingo in a pub for cash prizes untroubled by the regulations only if the proceeds go to a registered charity.Comment

There are (i think) 28 dominoes in a set. Shuffle doms, face down..........pick a dom and whichever domino has the asigned number the punter wins 20 squid! £8.00 then goes into club funds!

how about doing it 'down the pub'
after and the £8 is just a donation
ps i didn't know what they were either
or ask everyone to pay an extra quid or 2 and they get a free weekly cuppa

I suspect you might...we have to have a lottery licence for the PTA because we run lots of these kind of events throughout the year (ie: no skill involved). The cost isn't a great one (as we run multiple events) but I think its probably more than you're expecting to raise!
If you wanted to increase your fundraising you could do a 50/100 Club where members pay a set amount per month with half the proceeds forming the prize fund and the other half going to the good cause. It gets people to participate on a regular basis (we do ours by standing order or cheque up front) and it snowballs as people realise it has much better odds than playing the lottery...I can't remember whether you need a licence for this as it has a fixed membership criteria (ie: only open to members of your organisation/allotment society) but I could check for you.
As others have said, you'll have a licensing dept at the local council who can advise, but if you let them know then it might open a whole can of worms...Comment

i am sure you will need a lottery license, i ran a PTA (registered charity) for 8 years and one way around it is simple.
If you are only selling say cloakroom tickets on the day then you wont need one, but if you sell in advance you will need them! so perhaps attach a cloakroom ticket to the domino card! but you can always check this with your local council, they can advise you what is what.
