Default Doh! don't try this at home.

So can anyone tell me, is sloe gin good for laptops or what!!!

Made the bloody keyboard all sticky, I didn't realise I had a drink problem - yes I keep spilling it!

Better news, the sloe gin is gorgeous, kinda like liquid Tunes!

Ooops! I guess on the plus side, the more you drink, the less you'll care!

Very funny! The keys are making plinking noises as they 'unstick'! Shall I put it in the dishwasher?

SBP, Nooooooooh! Disconnect from any power and run de-ionised water through it.

Actually, thinking about it, that's exactly what Brian did with my son's lapdog when he accidentally spilt coke all over it . Leave it open and upside down in a warm airy place for a couple of days. Trouble is that if you leave it sticky, the dust that accumulates under the keys will stick to it and build up 'til the keyboard's unusable.

I revved up mine when I got home and there were sticky blobs on the screen. Slider from last night . Screen cleaner.

But depending on whether the keys continue to stick I might have to consider some kind of spray cleaner maybe? Its a rubbish Toshiba too, not like my old Thinkpad, that had a sort of rubber pants affair stopping liquid getting into the insides!

Well I've been looking for a new laptop since the Thinkpad died - I once had to take the keyboard off it that was NO fun, don't fancy doing it with the Toshiba - what a shame I've no money. Boy am I gonna be in bad books (mainly with myself for being so stupid)...

Actually, never put any sort of liquid anywhere near (and certainly do not pour over) a computer keyboard. Ever since my boss knocked his cup of coffee over my computer keyboard and decided to dismantle it and clean it I have had an absolute horror of drinks near keyboards (I saw what happened when Nick tried to save my keyboard (the keys are spring-loaded and when you remove the back of the keyboard everything tends to explode). If you do spill anything, shut down the computer, switch off and turn the keyboard upside down on absorbent paper/towel. If you have only spilt a little liquid you may be lucky and save the keyboard, but if not you will just have to buy another one (thank goodness they're fairly cheap now). If you use a laptop for goodness sake don't let anyone take any liquid anywhere near it!!!!!

Oh gosh rustylady I'm a practicing alcoholic (as you see I'm not yet very good at it!), that'll never work!

I'm not normally clumsy, hormones I'm afraid.

Take all the keys off and clean with alcohol(not sloe gin)
Replece keys in the right place if you don't nhgxj fmhmc nhsfrcdk

If you wrap your keyboard loosely with cling film, you can spill as much sloe gin as you like without any problems but it does tend to make funny noises when you type.

Lol! there's something vaguely odd about that suggestion.

Hah. It certainly sloes down your typing. OUCH. Sorry couldn't help myself there. Only two choices here i'm afraid, either do what bubblewrap suggests or buy a new one. I know what i'd do.

No worries, its mostly okay there's only one or two keys a bit sticky. I don't put that much in the glass at one go!

Pure alcohol will clean it safely (ethyl alcohol), you can get a big-ish bottle from the chemists. It'll flush out the stickiness & then evaporates, leaving it clean & dry
