As my face is definitely more creased with brown patches that I can no longer pretend are just freckles, I am being more vigilant about putting on sun cream . Hot sunny days are easy to remember a hat but it's this time of year when the sun breaks through the clouds and sneaks up on you, that it's easy to forget!I was wondering what other people do out in the garden?(just skin protection please!!!)

I always wear a hat and sunglasses as I am prone to migraine.
Am terrible about remembering suncream but do try to look out for handcreams and face cream with some UV protection so I feel I've some protection even I'd I forget the proper stuff! -
I don't, I'm quite olive skinned and don't really burn. Dh on the other hand is lobster red after yesterday's strumming exercise. .. He never learns!Comment

Always a hat and always sunscreen on my face and more delicate bits if they are on show. I feel lost without a hat, even when just popping outside for five minutes.

A good idea for a thread.
On the one hand, we all need our vitamin D - vital for the maintainance of physical and mental well-being.
15 minutes in full sun is recommended now.
Beyond that you need to take precautions, especially be careful not to burn.Pain is still pain, suffering is still suffering, regardless of whoever, or whatever, is the victim.
Everything is worthy of kindness.

Always a hat...and sun cream early on. Half Maltese so always have a little colour and less prone to burn.

I tend to wear a cap most of the time as it stops earth getting in the little hair I have remaining. I do not tend to bother with sun cream as by the time the sun gets hot enough to burn I have already got some colour to my skin, although if it's blistering hot I get nagged to put some on... I put a hat on yesterday but noy after I'd been out for about an hour. Am a bit red but its not proper burnt.Comment

ALWAYS a wide brimmed hat, ans ALWAYS factor 50 and ALWAYS sunglasses.
As I have ginger hair, and fair skin!
I will be throwing up at the end of the day otherwise....And would be stuck in bed for the whole of the following day....

Hi, I am a paste white so I don't tan I just burn. So I have the highest factor possible and a hat on. I have to have a rimmed hat or my ears always catch the sun and blister.
Went to Egypt on holiday and used mega factor sun cream out there. Came back paler than when I left.sigpicComment

The past few days I've been working outside all day and haven't bothered to put suncream or a hat on, purely because I've been in the shade half the time. Gotten a little extra colour from it, which is nice.
I wouldn't dream of spending all day without hat & suncream in the summer though! It's weird though, after having lived in the Middle East for 3 years, I find I don't burn as easily as I used to.Comment

I wear a wide brimmed hat, I'm not too keen on suntan lotion as I feel I'm just piling a lot of chemicals on my skin...which is worse the chemicals or the sun I wonder.
I prefer gardening later in the afternoon anyway, when it's not so hot.The best things in life are not things.Comment
