Do you keep a gardeners diary?

I have noted my harvest so far this year on a spreadsheet and it has been great to note the dates and amount picked. But I have been thinking I should really keep a more up to date note of when things were sown, seeds collected and general chores/tasks in the garden and veg plot.

What do others use to remind them for future years?

I have a lovely hard backed book what i bought a few years ago that i write things down in, what i planted, if it was seeds i saved or bought or was given etc, if they grew/cropped well or not, dates i planted them, weight of squash, and variety, if i liked the taste of it. I also like to take photo's of things i've grown and i stick them in the book as well, there good to look back on, also if i've had any disease's, what treatment i used, if it was effective or not. Over the years it's grown into a good reference book.

No I don't keep any notes, just have my plot design on the laptop. I copy the plan for each season, so I can look back and see what grew in what bed for rotation purposes. However I also find it useful for planning my colour schemes of flowers that go in among the fruit and veg.

If I like something I grow it again, if not I pass the seeds on. I have lots of plans and notes for things to do, but I don't keep a record/history of how I went about doing it.

I have a spreadsheet plan with what's where at this moment, and a spreadsheet which is a sowing diary showing crop, variety, date sown, date sprouted, date planted out, first harvest, last harvest, and it works out how long from sowing to eating, and how long the cropping period is.

As far as ajournal is concerned, I take a photo of the plot from top and botton every time I go to the Hill, and I blog what I've been up to.

I used to keep it all on the poota. Then my hard drive went bang and I lost it. Haven't bothered since - just lazy I guess!

I do, until about mid may when I lost the plot and just forget to write it all down.

Then about now, I start making harvest notes - referring to all the stuff I sowed earlier in the year.

The middle bit - I sort of just lose.

I do take shedloads of photos and then forget to blog them......must get on and update it. I'm rubbish really.

I started writing in a note book last September, One year after I got my allotment and wished I had started it at the begining. I do forget to write in it and do an update of what has been happening on the plot. I am trying to keep it more up to date though. I have noted the temperature and general weather conditions especially when its been very hot, very wet, or very cold and snowy.
