| Only in your dreams! You do actually need to be able to use a macro for some of the close-ups etc. and take off/put on the flash. They're not hard to use. I'm a girlie and I can do it!

| I'll wager that there is just the thing for you, Snadge - although technology is changing all the time, why don't you have a look at the Which reports for budget digi cameras? (and a less lazy grape than I will go to the trouble of giving you a link, I daresay.....)

| Macro is just the setting for a close-up picture. You shouldn't need it for photos of your veg, I use it more for more for close-ups of insects and flowers. I'm not really up on digital cameras though, I just use the one on my phone which does the job for me! If I was buying one, I'd be temped to go into an independant camera shop for some advice - people who actually understand whst the camera will do (and can explain it!) rather than your "generic electrical retailer" who knows all about telly's & stereos and nowt about anything else....

| On a serious note, mine's a Canon IXUS that my wife bought for me as a wedding gift almost three years ago http://www.digicamreview.co.uk/canon...500_review.htm It's pretty much a point-and-shoot with fairly simple buttons. I'm sure they do a modernerer version now.

| Tesco has some digital cameras on offer under £100 http://direct.tesco.com/q/N.1999764/...ResultSort.y=5 The only problem with the cheap ones is that they all seem to have AA or AAA batteries which run out fairly quickly, I've got a Ricoh R5 now with a lithium battery that lasts a lot longer (I think it was about £130 from Jessops.) I used to have HP Photosmart before which was pretty good also. Snadger I think the one HeyWayne found is brilliant too, bit pricey at £60 though!

| We use Sony cybershot dsc-p73 digital cameras which we buy off ebay for anything between £30 and £80. good enough for my blog and social photography, they take memory sticks that hold a shed load of piccies and if you use two AA litium batteries there are no issues there either as they last for ages. The DSC series keeps on being updated and are brilliant idiot proof cameras if thats what yuo want but with extra facilities if you are able to use them.

| Mine is a Sony Cybershot U. My hubby bought it for me as a gift. I always use this for my pics although i used my hubbys Olympus for the competition. Only reason is the screen for viewing is bigger than on mine. Otherwise would recommend it. Price, about 140Euro.
