He sure has. And anyone who has worked with computers will get that heart-sinking feeling when someone says they are 'upgrading the system'. We only ever had problems after an upgrade!

ha ha!

Well since you asked so nicely! Well the reason the forums have been upgraded is to help the forum with search engine rankings in Google, Yahoo, MSN etc. I don't want to get too technical, but if you look at this post in the address bar you will see it's labelled as the title of this thread and what category it's in.

growfruitandveg.co.uk/grapevine/general-chitchat/dig-post-etc_10923.html

Where as before it would be something like:

growfruitandveg.co.uk/grapevine/index.php?t=10923

You will notice there's no relevant keywords in this address.

Changing this with cause search engines to rank this website in google better as it links relevant keywords in url's higher so when someone searches for garden related (and strange topics in general chat) terms in search engines chances are we will be among the top results.

The Digg, Furl etc are social bookmarking links. You can submit interesting topics to these websites for other people to discover, doing so will certainly help raise awareness of the forum so I do encourage you to submit a thread or 2 if you ever get the time!

Phewww. Any questions let me know.

Yes, I have a question:

Ben, Could you send someone marginally less gorgeous-looking than yourself to explain the colourful squiggly bits? If I could just concentrate less on your Avatar and more on the matter in hand, I might be somewhat the wiser, and Trousers might be less cross (!)

Darling, I'm loathe to mention that not only is the beautiful Ben is nearly half your age, (tho' no-one would think of even THINKING that), that I've been curious enough to check out his webbyspaceyfaceythingy, and I didn't understand one wordy of it all at all, so think you have a better chance of communicating with your cat's friendys??

I think that if you DO click as you like on any bits you don't know, you can be safe in the knowlege that you can 'surf over' the tricksy bits and that it must already be grape-proofed before it gets as far as Wellie-destruction-testing..?

An' if it's not Wellie-proofed, there'll be a big cloud of smoke and we'll all meet up all soot-streaked at Malvern in the Spring???????
