  • Dagnamnit!

LadyWayne and I had are planning to re-decorate the living room this weekend. We had planned to take Bean up to his grandparents tomorrow (I've booked the day off) and leave him there until Monday.

I also plan to re-paint the front door - changing it from the dark, dingey "mahogany" to something a little lighter. So, on that basis I said it might be an idea if I stayed at home tomorrow to get the sanding/prep done (LW hates doing that bit) as it would then give me three clear days to get the door painted and allow a decent amount of time between coats.

We got up this morning, I showered, shaved and went downstairs - LW was feeding Bean his breakfast. I crouched down to get the shoe polish from the cupboard and "PING" followed a milisecong later by me yelling "aaaaargh".

    Yep, my back's gone ping!

It feels like it's muscular so should be able to sort it with some good exercise, heat and stretches, but it's bladdy sods law innit! Counting down the hours to go home now!

Oh, and my name's not Olivier!

You and your back ! I think you need a couple of inches taking off your legs, or you need to do some yoga and pilates to strengthen your core muscles - oh, and don't bend over, it clearly not good for you!!

Lecture over - hope you feel better soon dude

I've very strong core muscles - so ner! My Osteo dude told me so.

          Besides, I crouched - I didn't bend!

It's probably just because I did it first thing without warming up properly - although I had been doing my hamstring stretches 5-10 minutes before.

Then we're just going to have to shorten your legs for you - I'll sterilise the tree saw...

Oh no, but still, better than being half way through it with little 'un stuck with grandparents when it happened. Also congratulations; back going ping is a far better excuse than any OH has ever dreamed up and he's had 30 years to practice.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Oh eck, you and your back.

Look on the bright side, though. This could have happened on the morning you were going to see Pearl Jam!

*stands well back from the tree saw*

Oh I'm doing the decorating regardless - just would have preferred to do it in comfort. I still might.

                            Fine thanks - touch wood.

One week off, and plenty of exercisation and a good cocktail of drugs sorted me (I didn't feel any pain down my leg thankfully, so knew it was only muscular and that I could get it licked if I was sensible).

                            Thanks for asking.
