Me too! heard ours on Saturday.....

They say that wherever you are when you hear your first cuckoo of the year, that is where you will spend most of your time in the coming year....

I heard mine in my back garden - I always say that I want more time in my garden, maybe this will be my and my gardens year! I'll see what happens

Hope so HF, heard mine out in the big field walking the hounds about 3 or 4 weeks ago.
Dont know about UK but in France when you hear the first cuckoo of the year, if you rattle the change about in your pocket you will be lucky.

We used to hear them every year, here in East Anglia. Haven't heard one for ages now, though.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Hi Jeanied, Mum in (east) Essex heard a cuckoo a few days ago - first time in years! so maybe there is hope.

We heard one last year and now this year - prior to that I had not heard one in Oxon for years and years.

Maybe I've got the only one in our area- so he/she's madly calling a lass/laddie???

On reflection- I think it's a male...only a male would go on and on and on like that!!!

Been hearing them since March on Leith Hill (Dorking). Saw my first house-martin of the year yesterday. Hopefully my Swallows will be here any day, now!
