  • Council Problems

    Dear All,
I have unused land next to my house. Its privately owned and the owner will sell, so I can extend my (tiny) garden. The council have the highway rights to the land, so after a year of letters and phone calls, the highways office said yes to my proposed extension. In steps the another council deptartment who stop it. They wont reply to my letters and no one is available to speak to me when I phone them.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Yours in frustration.

    Involve your local concillor.

Council employees treat Councillors like royalty (well the party in power at any rate) and will answer their queries as a priority.
Always thank people who have helped you immediately, as they may not be around to thank later.

Yes, and make sure you point out how much money is being wasted by the council by passing you back and forth like that, that always gets attention

I believe there is also a local government ombudsman to deal with council's excesses and non-action.
If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing to excess
