    Comfrey in garden centre

    Can anyone advise me where i would get Russian comfrey bocking 14 i have looked on ebay and i got outbid on a bit,everyone else wont post till middle of march.I wanted to start some of in pots asap i dont know of any garden centres in Edinburgh that sell it or anyone that supplies it

    you can't grow it in pots, it has a long deep tap root.

    It's still dormant at the mo, have another look on eBay next month. (btw, you could use bidding scheduler dot com if you don't want to keep getting outbid).

      These folks sell it: The Organic Gardening Catalogue
      BUT - they tend not to send it until after March anyway. I got some from them last year and they had a backlog and it was quite late. To be honest though there's no point in rushing to get some as you're supposed to leave it a season to get established first before you take a cut.

        I'm sorry i know you can't grow it in pot i thought you had to start root cuttings in pots before transplanting into the ground

          No, you just dig a hole and drop it in.

          It tends to dry out really quickly and be very unhappy in pots (I tried it last year)

              I ordered some on the 11th of Feb from here...
              Abriachan Nurseries, The Garden on Loch Ness, Beautiful Scottish Hardy Plant Nursery and Woodland Garden Walk

              It was described as 'a big pot of roots' for £5 that would be sent, I got a bit of a shock at the £7.50 delivery charge and i'm wondering just how big this pot will be.

              I wasn't given any indication of when I could expect to receive my order and have just emailed them to find out.

              I am a bit concerned that they no longer have it for sale on their site (unless I missed it several times)

                Just a quick update a lady decided to give up her plot and her friend said i can have the comfrey plants she had left.I dug up three plants but also got a bucket full of roots which broke of so i will plant them to
