  • Cold last night

Well, I thought it felt a bit nippy last night when I got in from work and the thermometer in the garden has just confirmed it. Minimum temp was 5 degrees, coldest so far. Anyone actually had frost yet?

We were also forecast 2, but I'd fleeced everything a week or so ago as I didn't fancy having to nip out late when it was forecast and try fleecing in the dark.

No frost yet and hopefully not for a little bit. But it has been cold the last two nights, minimum temp has been 4.3, so a definite nip in the air.

No known frost here yet, although the other morning when I did the chooks, the dew looked almost frostlike and there was a definite nip in the air!
Don't know about fleecing my spuds, but I had two on me last night whilst watching telly!

Sharp frost here on Wednesday and Thursday. -5 and -8
Just as well I bought in the chilli plants and took geranium and fuschia cuttings on Tuesday It killed what was left of the tomatoes and made a mess of the kiwi and figs.
Hey-ho, at least it'll kill the bugs

Guess I was lucky then, everything here looks fine. At least after the recent rain, the lawn is a bit greener, and the trees are starting to colour instead of dropping dry crispy brown leaves.

We had frost here over a week ago, got down to 1c in the greenhouse, and I have the (gas) heater on in there! I guess I didn't turn it up enough

First frost was about 3 weeks ago, no surprise being this far north. First (light) snowfall was two weeks ago today.

Just been down to the lottie and frost has knocked down my butternut squash plants (they were still flowering) and my basil plants - everything else looks definitely autumnal. I'm just that bit far out of London to keep frost free.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

5 degrees again last night. Cut the last of the tomatoes before we get a real frost.

No traces of frost here. Its definately getting chillier, but my hanging baskets and window-boxes (full of summer bedding) still look healthy and happy. Think I will wrap the tree ferns and bananas in fleece this week though, I don't want to get caught out.
