  • Cold enough for garlic??

    Hello All

Hope you are not frozen in any where!

Just had time to take in my lovely GYO for this month and it has everything....The garlic offer with cook book and preserves is a lovely deal for Chrimbo and I bet that garlic will be beautiful as they do have lovely garlic..... if you want some to see The Garlic Farm for all things garlic and you save a tenner on line....Lush.

Also can I just ask if any one else had very disappointing potatoes last season, it was my first attempt but they did not do very well, any pointers?? I did them in the bag so was expecting some fat spuds for my tea but this did not happen...May be I will try the ones on page 32 to see if they work!

And if you are looking for any other gifts for Christmas I have to say I have just bought a really nice piece of wall art for my mum and dad for Christmas, I know its an odd present but what do you buy a 72 year old that loves their garden...see a prefect present..... But really quick delivery from Garden Ornaments and I have to say really reasonable in these times prudence !!! See Home And Garden | Garden Ornaments | Metal Wall Art | Weathervanes | Sundials

That is it all shopped out but would like advise on my spuds!

    Merry Xmas every one

sorry to read your spud crop wasn't great. A few important things with spuds in bags. They benefit from lots of sunlight so give them plenty space. They like to be moist not wet. They need quite a lot of feed in the compost. 12 ozs of calcified seaweed + 12 ozs vitax q4 in 50 litres of peat is sufficient for 3 bags. One spud per bag. Pick of any excess sprouts leaving only three or 4 per spud. You may get less potatoes that way but you will get bigger ones
