Chuffin dogs!

Got those here too

We're surrounded by dogs, which do stop the feral kids from rampaging through all the gardens, but at least three right behind us never stop barking. One constantly screams and yelps all day because it's left alone outside in all weathers. Unfortunately I can't tell which house it's at (the view around back is all blocked by trees and hedges) and the council won't do anything unless you know which house it is

Our own never makes a sound unless she's frightening off would be burglars (and the odd cat)

Report it to the RSPCA, sounds like they are not complying with the Animal Welfare Act.

Same here, the guy across the road has 2 there not bad, just seem to bark when anyone calls at the house, there's a couple over the wall at the top of our Terrace that have 4 dogs, not small one's nether, they bark at the birds in the garden, at people walking by, anything and there at it all hours of the day. I agree H.W its not on, when your in bed you shouldn't have to put up with other peoples dogs incisive barking, I don't know how you've not said anything to the owners before now. The couple near use have been warned about there dogs from The Council, not just because of the barking, but because they jump up at the wall and growl at people that walk past.
But as you've already said " its not the dogs falt", there only doing what come's natural, but in end it the dogs that suffer.

That would annoy me. We went on holiday a few years ago, and spent a fortune on a lovely villa, with own pool etc. We knew the owners lived next door, but they didn't mention their three dogs which all barked all day, all night...it ruined the holiday. I'm not a dog owner, nor have I ever wanted to be, and my mum really doesn't like them (she was on hols with us for a week). They greeted us with the words "hope you don't mind dogs!" Well it's a bit blinking late to ask that once you've flown for four hours to get there!

So, I sympathise... hope it was a one off. You don't that with Bean to settle as well!

Why can't people learn that dogs need company and exercise. They buy cute little puppies then go out to work for hours and leave them , expecting them to behave like well brought up children!!!!
I recently did a home-check for greyhound rescue and asked how long the dog would be left for on a regular basis.
"No more than eight hours a day" was the reply. EIGHT HOURS!!!!!!!! And she was surprised when her request was turned down.
Now, dogs barking doesn't bother me as such but I can understand how it can others. We have terriers next door to us who used to yap non-stop all day, they were never taken out and were expected to be happy in the garden but, obviously someone complained (not me) and they got an expert in to train them. They almost strangle themselves now trying not to bark when my dogs are out, poor things.
So, complain, loud and long and something will be done even if it means the dogs are re-homed to someone responsible.
Thats my rant over too!!!!!!!!!

Complain to your local Council. I HATE barking dogs.

It is sometimes possible that the owners aren't aware that their dogs bark all day

as they aren't there and the dogs stop when they return

but they shouldn't be so blase about constant noise that affects their neighbours - that's what really REALLY annoys me.

Given that the police wouldn't move a camper van that was illegally obstructing a footpath, I hold little hope for anything being done about the dogs.

I'll live longer than the dogs will, so at some point I'll get some peace.

Its the Council not the Police, and you might live a long time, but they'll get more dogs.

I have dogs. The only time they bark at night is when they hear something amiss; it's one of the reasons I keep them. Since we've lived in this house (7ish years) they've barked during the night twice, once when the shed was about to be broken into (you should have seen him run when I opened the back door) and the younger one barked when our older one had his first epileptic fit, alerting me that something was wrong. What I don't understand is how people who allow their dogs to bark all night manage to get any sleep themselves, on both occasions when ours did it we were half way down stairs to see what was happening before we were even properly awake. The whole idea of a bark is to alert you.

I'm with the 'report 'em' group laddie - imagine if they start barking earlier, say 0300hrs, cos the owners are out and they (the dogs) wake Bean up!!

They really don't want a grumpy Wayne at 3am with access to paintballing equipment on their hands either!

I love dogs - would love one myself, but we work all day so have decided it just wouldn't be fair on the dog being kept locked up - be that out, or inside.

There are 2 nasty jack russels next door (I say this as I know they don't have their own grandchildren round as are scared of what the dogs might do - WTF?! )

They wake OH up at 6 am everyday barking in the garden, but I sleep right through it

They were recently put into kennels while owners went on holiday and when they came back one of them had a funny sounding bark - they tell me it barked so much it made itself hoarse! pmsl

I know my dog barks, whines, howls, and generally acts like she's being murdered when I go out and leave her, so, I very rarely leave her on her own - I have a mutual dog-sitting arrangement with a friend. I would never expect my neighbours to put up with that. And if she made that racket first thing in the morning, I'd murder her myself

(joke, obviously)
I think you should complain too, to the council and/or the RSPCA - it must be driving other people crackers too, and it really isn't fair on the dogs either.
