  • Chuck chat is taking over the forum......

I don't mind as such but I thought it was a gardening forum. I have noticed that the chuck chatters in the main only chat about chucks. And the veggie chatters chat veg. There are some crossovers like snadge and G4 but is it time for them to get their own forum.(not my strong personal view. Just for debate)

Or can you chuck chatters just engage a little more with us veggie growers........

Do you mean for the chuck chatters to chat chucks in the main chat or chat veg in the chuck chat?

Chat chuck elsewhere. But better still chat veg here. We don't seem to have budgie banter, cat chat, or any other animal sections so why chooks? Apart from their poo is good for veggies and their eggs go well on the compost?

I like eggs and chicken by the way.....but not in the same meal!

I've noticed a lot of chuck chat lately, but chookers have feelings too you know.

I'm a chook chatterer....and we do have our own chook chat thread in the right place. Have we been guilty of overspill then? I haven't been onvine too much lately, so I hadn't noticed.

Chooks do tend to take over, they take over your garden, your life and your conversation very quickly......Oh! Did I tell you about one of our chooks that......sorry, sorry. See what I mean?

I like the chook chat - even though I don't keep chickens I like to hear about them.
And I chat about my cat too - and I love to hear about other peoples pets and wildlife.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

If I was you Newton I'd be carefull what I said about the chuck chatters. They might chuck you off the vine.

I'm a wee bit puzzled at this thread. The forum is based around grow your own i.e. producing your own food and the poultry guys are doing that as much as us veggie folks. I must confess that I tend to skip over the stuff I'm not involved with but doing so certainly doesn't spoil my enjoyment of the forum at all.

Bit pointless a poultry person who isn't experienced in veggie growing giving advice about vegetable growing and I'm not going to try to give advice in the opposite direction when I know nothing about poultry.

I'm all for folks with problems asking for advice and for those with the knowledge helping out where they can. In the main, that's how the forum works and it works very well so no need for any change. There is a chat section for those who want to socialise and those who want to chat do so. Again that's fine with me.

Newton obviously hasn't been in the 'Chat' thread - there's not much talk about Chooks in there!

Incidentally, Newton, I'm more than happy to chat about Veg, but being a very novice Veg. grower, I spend my time reading and learning, rather than chatting about Veg, in order to improve both my knowledge and my harvest. I am more than happy to chat on many other subjects - take your pick; Horses, Dogs, Chickens, Geese, Land Rovers, Caravans, Crime Fiction Novels, Towing, Cycling, Walking, Cats, Off-Road Driving, Digger Driving, Strimming, Mowing, Pruning, Loading and emptying the Dishwasher, Making Laundry Soap, Wiring Plugs, picking my nose... Sorry, I'm boring myself now!

                        Hi Newton,Chooks should really have TWO dedicated section as;

                        !) They produce food
                        2) They are be a food source in their own right

Don't try to fix that which is not broken bud, just ignore the sections/threads that are of no interest to you.For if this place were turned into a true Veg only forum then you would not have been able to start this thread as General Chat is even less to do with food production than Chook sections

After checking on the forum and drinking my coffee, I'm off to make a) cupcakes with my own eggs and butter and b) Swiss meringue butter cream with (again) my own eggs & butter. I could, to tie in it with both chooks and veggies, bake a carrot cake with my own carrots (eggs, butter).....

I read the appropriate posts for help in growing carrots, help with chooks and making butter. Could I link the various Vines any better than that? I think not, but suggestions welcome!
