  • Christmas dinner

I ordered my meat from the butchers yesterday-lamb,stuffing,capon(our dog will be obsessed and possessed by magic word "capon" for at least 2 weeks after Christmas-camping in the dining room day and night)and the other bits and bobs.
What are you having for yours(except turkey?)

I shall be having either goat or camel or a plate of veggies if its fish on the menu.
    Pah.
My first wife was a Jamaican and to be honest curry goat on christmas day evening was very nice but not the way they serve it here.
    Homesick here, me? Nooooooooooooooooo

Turkey ordered - didn't ask when it would depart this world Hope to find a nice ham later this week. Venison ordered for New Year feasting (will be marinated and roasted slowly to preserve flavour and tenderness.

The only reason I know is that the turkey-owner asked if Mr OWG wanted to despatch it himself tonight

He politely declined, and said we would come get it at the weekend....

The Beefy's go to wife's sisters every year( 3 sisters and parents , and parents of brothers in law) so there are around 24 of us for Christmas Dinner we all provide bits and pieces for the meal and as far as I know so far there will be
Salmon (caught by me earlier this year)
                  Prawns
                  Pate (various types)
                  Pork Fillet (stuffed)
Silverside of Beef (home grown on our farm)
                  Turkey crown
                  Ham
                  Duck
                  Goose
                  Pheasant (4 breasts)
                  Venison
It's usually ends up as a carvery where everyone takes what they want and whats left over is sent home with whoever wants what . We always get a bigger dinner on Boxing Day than on Christmas Day.

I've given in to the price and gone for goose for Christmas day.
But for the whole feasting period I've got hare, pigeons, duck, venison.
My darling husband came home with the most enormous ham. Not sure where we're going to fit that in.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

OH managed to pick up a free range chicken which had been reduced in the Co-op today, so that'll be our Christmas dinner. We'll probably try and get a ham from the farm shop for Boxing Day & sandwiches, and hopefully a small beef joint too, coz I'm not keen on ham but love roast beef!

Believe me, that kinda stuff goes down in Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana! A friend of mine in Marianna, Florida has alligator for festive dinners. He shoots them...

Puts the small shot you sometimes get in pheasant into perspective then
