| We put our tree up last weekend, as we were all badly infected with the Christmas Spirit after seeing Santa and his reindeer parade through the town! I won't put up all the rest till later though. I usually leave the whole lot till the weekend before Christmas, as before I've worried it might all get a bit too much for the kids having decs up and anticipating the day forever. We'll see what happens this time! Claire |

| We usually put up decorations inside about 2-3wks before Xmas, always at weekend, so it depends which day of the week Xmas Day falls on. I hope to get the tree this weekend so as many family members can help out and get in the festive season. Fairy lights in the tree outside go on for the evening starting on 1st Dec. It was lovely to see the neighbours kids rush up to see it on Monday after school! I'm finding it really hard to get into the card writing mode this year!! |

| I put up the tree the weekend before - so this year it will be Dec 23rd. However, I have started my 'green' decoration already. I'm attending a 5 week 'flower arranging for Christmas' course in the village - week 4 this week. Last week I made a door ring - even made the ring from the prunings of the tay berry - lovely and bendy. This week I'm doing one for daughter & family. As these are in oasis (wrapped in cling film so the water doesn't drip out) and are outside, they keep fresh. Next week I'm making two table rings - one for us, one for her - with evergreens and candles. I might even put fresh flowers in these (incidentally you get sore eyes looking for flowers not labelled 'by air' at this time of year but there are a few chrysanths - worth searching out. Our Britain in Bloom committee has decided to hold a Christmas Lights competition (again - they did it last year). I played merry hell with them for their lack of green awareness, encouraging the conspicuous use of electricity. They agreed (in the face of aggressive friendliness!) to running a green decoration competition alongside it. My door wreath and the swags of ivy I shall use nearer the time, are part of this. So to sum up - fresh stuff from now on - as it comes on stream so to speak. The tree and its lights on 23rd.

| Can't stand early decorations - there is a flat opposite ours who has been lit up for about 3 weeks now. Why?????? We'll get the tree in a couple of weeks time and decorate it then. Nothing overboard, more subtle, don't want to be doubling my use of electricity like some of these tacky places you see on the TV!

| i love christmas and all the decorations etc - but i'm not allowed to even *think* about christmas until after my daughters birthday on the 2nd december! will get the tree and decorations out this evening - we'll start putting them up tonight, hopefully finish them tomorrow night bound to have some tatty and old decorations so might need to find some new stuff again this year |

| I usually wait until the weekend before, depending on which day christmas day falls. This year it will probably be the weekend before that (ie next!) cos OH is like an excited child and cant wait until two days before christmas day!! If I had children tho they would probably be up earlier.

| As close to Christmas as possible. This has left us looking for a tree at the last minute, only to find people have shut up shop, leaving us peering at unattainable stock .Nothing this year, I'm off to Spain for 11 days .

| My parents always put them up on Christmas Eve and down on 12th night. Christmas did feel special when it was a sensible length.

| Definitely too early for me. We normally don't do it til at most 10 days before Christmas and often a lot less. And this year, I need to get rid of the builders, get the cleaners and carpet cleaners in, and get the house back into some sort of reasonable shape. But I am off to Edinburgh for the day on 22nd, so it will probably be before that (we were going to a sis's wedding, but that's cancelled, but as another sis and I had already booked and paid for day return flights, we are going anyway for a girlie day out and she will be staying with us before and after - so a bit of festive spirit is needed). |

Also need to write the cards and haven't even bought them yet!! Not normally this disorganised, but is it just me or has Christmas arrived sooner this year?? LJ |

| Christmas has never been the same for ever since I had a note by my bed one morning that read "Love Satan" - Dad never was much good at spelling!

| Ours will go up in a week or two, perhaps when some of the neighbours lights have gone up - its like being 'fashionably late' to the party! We live in a little hamlet and there's always a carol singing session just before Christmas, everyone collects just at the bottom of our close near the Church and sings some carols - I might even go join this year rather than hang out the upstairs window listening like last year! ![]() C'mon then who's got alternate Christmas deco's? What sort of stuff for Yule? Have you a fairy atop your tree?
