    Chives & Corriander seeds...........

    Are they moist enough? They will go flacid (floppy) without enough water. Are they getting enough light? it could be that they have gotten all leggy searching for sunlight (and became unable to support themselves).

    If you could post a piccy it would probably help.

    Chives Corriander seeds

    Hi, they are in my in my large bay window so light cant be the issue.
    I am watering them 2/3 times a week, is that enough though ??

    They are all about 2 inchs high now but dont seem to be bulking out to support further height growth.

    The peas have gone made but seem sturdy and have replanted into a small pot now.

    Cant post photos sorry to say.

      My coriander is exactly the same, it has plenty of light and water, fingers crossed though all will be good.

        Windows with lots of light have two huge problems....

        1/ they let in heat from the sun so plants that want to be at room temperature (say 20degC) get far too warm... this is made worse if they are in a propagator or something similar

        2/ large windows lose lots of heat at night especially close to the glass where it is very cold. Sometimes there is a radiator under a windowsill which keeps the seedlings too hot when there is no light. Seedlings like to have a drop in temperature when the sun goes down.


        I would try growing the seedlings a little harder by making sure they do not get too hot by using shade or by taking them outside during the day. At night move them into the main part of the room and let the temperature drop to around 15degC.
        The proof of the growing is in the eating.

          If you sowed them into trays, chances are they need potting up. If the coriander has any true leaves, prick the seedlings out into deeper pots (5-6 seedlings per 7" pot). Don't worry too much about them flopping about, they usually sort themselves out. I'd take the advice of the others re; temperature and light as well, though!
          As to the chives, again, pot them on. Don't try doing this singley - it'll drive you nuts! Dig little clumps of seedlings out of the tray and transplant into 3" pots. Chives are VERY hard to mess up!

            Chives are hardy, really do not need to be indoors once they have germinated.
