Hi this may be a very silly question so here goes
Is a chilli pepper a fruit or a vegetable?
    cheers

Technically, it's a fruit. But it's thought of as a vegetable because it's savoury, I guess.

Surely it is a fruit as it contains seeds - just like a tomato - fruits used as vegetable or savoury.

Don't know the precise definition of a vegetable but any root, leaf or stem which can be eaten in my book.

Hello Helly, as far as I know chillies are a fruit, but for show purposes they are classified as a vegetable. Good luck in the competition and can we see your chillies in a pic ?

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

A show may be another matter - although technically a fruit - I'm sure, as with toms - you'd perversely expect entries amongst the veg section. Check with the organisers.
