Default cheap programs

what is it with some of the gardening/home/cookery programs of today.
They start of telling you whats in the program...cut to adverts
back to program, tell you what was in program before the ads...cut to more adverts.
back to program, recap recap, adverts, adverts, recap etc.
you get about 15mins in total of interesting bits!! if you are lucky
is it just me????

That's the Merkans for ya. I remember when we visited the Dominican Republic years ago and all they have is Merkan TV stations. Drove me crackers.

Dirty Sexy Money is a bit like that. Programme starts, then stops and cuts to ads, then comes back long enough for the opening credits, then back to adverts....

Can you get rid of all that toot with that Posh Sky?

We have Sky+ it does help with the adverts, but it's the recap chat that does for me!

ie, Mr and Mrs HF wanted a new garden, so here we are making a new garden for them, person one has done this in their garden person two has been doing this......yeah yeah we saw that before the ads why go over it again?
They then show about 6 mins of new footage and lo more adverts, and of course more adverts!
At the end of program...you have guessed it 4 mins of this is what we did.
Bet they only use a foot of film for whole program.

I know exactly what you mean Headfry - I had the same moan with my OH a couple of nights ago - why tell you now what they're going to tell you after the ad and then after the ad go over what they told you before the ad, AND what they told you they were going to tell you ... and on and on ad infinitum. I reckon sometimes you could get as much info by just watching the last ten minutes of some of these progs!

Im fed up of prettie much most TV. I watch anything with Jamie Oliver or Hugh Fernly Wittingstall (think thats how its spelt). I watch the news and gardners world and I watch Star Trek (yes I am a trekkie), oh and I watch Smallville. Thats prettie much all I watch on TV. I hate the add breaks I always change the channel the minute the adds come on. I think TV is really cheap now its all reality programs and quiz shows. Boring.
If Im going to watch something its a DVD of my own but most of the time I'd rather read a good book!

Hate reality and quiz shows. Love the US drama, CSI (all of them), ER, Greys Anatomy, Law and Order etc. Brit drama just not as good, sadly.
I get what you mean about the constant recapping tho, we like to watch Dog Borstal sometimes, but the constant flashbacks annoy the hell out of me.

I don't watch much live TV anymore. I have V+ box with Virgin Media and it can record 80 hours of programmes onto a hard disk. So we just record everything and then fast forward through the ads when watching.

I think you summed it up in your title Headfry. Cheap. You can pad out a 20 minute idea into an hour's show if you repeat yourself - and keep repeating shots, and pad this with adverts. They are taking us for idiots. They obviously haven't fooled you lot!

I haven't watched T.V. for years it simply began to grate on my nerves far too much, there was a phase a few years back when it was all 'reality' shows, 'docu-soaps' and trashy 'drama' (Footballers' Wives finally did it for me)

However don't let me put you off trying Capsid's idea of a V+ box from Virgin media I happen to know these are very good indeed.........my ENTIRE family work for them.
