I see she is putting her name to £lands garden range. Either way, how can you knock 'em for a squid.

I've tried the pots with cloches and they are pretty good. Nice to be able to close the vent if needed, or open it.

The secateurs are ok too, but the catch to keep them closed is on a screw that unwound in 5 minutes when I was using them. Screw now somewhere on my plot and I close them with a rubber band. They aren't bad for a quid though and fair play to her for endorsing a range of tools for people on a tight budget.

That's the problem Sparrow, as they are cheap folk expect them to be rubbish yet I've had expensive items drop to bits in no time.

It's great. Last year I bought loads of plant pots and containers in varying sizes. I was careful to pick ones that felt quite sturdy and were not too narrow at the base to topple over. I've only had one break after dropping a brick in it.

I've also had some of their solar lights and garden decorations with no probs. Places like poundland mean I can act like a kid in a sweet shop instead of worrying on the price of things. I've had loads of nearly new gardening books from charity shops too - amazing what people will chuck out.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Soaker hose for a quid looks like it might be worth a go. Only 6m but would fit just fine in my postage stamp garden.

I was looking at that GG, would be a perfect length to go round a 6x8 greenhouse.

£land is somewhere I trawl through once in a while (about fortnightly), the same as Lidl and Aldi plus anywhere else I stumble accross in my lunchtime escapades. There is a lot of tat and yes the stuff is done to a price, but if you're starting out it's a great way to get going. Of course us old hands know that quality tools last a lifetime, but if you bought qaulity everything on day one it would be hundreds in just hand tools many of which would hardlt ever get used.
99p store have compost maker, granular fertiliser and chicken manure pellets in thier £0.99 range which is excellent for small gardeners (I mean small gardens not the people doing the gardening). They also have ready to grow tomatoes/courgettes/basil etc. in pots with compost in the bag for the same money. Some judicious shopping can reveal some bargains, probably a good idea to resist the cheap lawn edging and plastic ornaments. Get a plastic toy windmill though and plant it to keep away the moles!
