    Changes....

    Hallo Ladies,

    You might remember, my hubbie got a staff job in Surrey, he's completed 2 of his 6 months probationary and is loving it. I have handed in my notice here in Aberdeen at my work, and my last day is June 24th, same as the little one's last day at nursery. June 26th we are driving to Blackpool to spend the next day there and celebrate our boy's birthday in Sandcastle Waterpark before heading to Surrey in the evening (and hopefully moving into our new rented home). A week to settle in, then the little one will start with a new childminder and I will start my job in Croydon.

    Things still to do:

    Goodbye lunch for friends in Aberdeen
    Sign the draft rent contract (once our landlords get WRITTEN mortgage permission for letting)
    Manage the removal company
    Confirm our tenants for the home in Aberdeen
    Confirm the childminder
    Remove myself from Bean&Pea Seedswap as I have had to give up my allotment.
    SCREAM A FEW TIMES IN PANIC!!!!

    Bit nervous about the move and the awful tight timeline for everthing!!! What's everybody's thoughts on this? I am a bit overwhelmed with it all, especially as I am on my own with the little on in Aberdeen, while DH is already down in Surrey. I could need some fingers crossed and peaceful thoughts!

    Take a few deep breaths and tell yourself this is going to be great! Good luck with it all. You'll live through the next 10 days then it will be uphill all the way!

      oooh, good luck with it all.

      If you can, try not to fret. It is hard, I know, but it is very nice down here - I moved from New Zealand so I can defintiely sympathise about big uprooting changes!

      I have one little tip about Croydon as well - they have a ShakeAway! I have done a couple of shifts for the Croydon branch of my work and my treat is a cheeky shakeaway. Very trivial, but it sounds like you will really be in need of a treat as well!

        Plan plan and plan some more. If you think it - write it down. A whiteboard or large piece of A3 paper with everything written on it and pinned to the wall - tick things off as you go and then plan some more.

          It sounds as if you're doing the same as we did a few years ago, although we ended up in Hampshire rather than Surrey. The first thing we noticed was the change in temperature, the children thought it was wonderful not to need to wear jumpers. The best bit was, of course, that we were together again as a family.

            Just try to relax! It takes time to get used to such a big change and it's hard work too to getting to grips with a new community! Good luck, hope it all goes smoothly!

              Note book...to write everything down on.
              When ya start moving it's surprising what you tend to forget. When the little ones in bed, take a little time out for yourself, relax look through your cheek lists. I find when I'm having a clear out...if I haven't used an item in 24 months...I'm not gong to use it again. Pointless taking things with you that are just going to take up space if your not going to use them again.

              Good luck with your new job, house, nursery etc...Ooow yup...and the move .


              And remember...12 months time you'll wonder what you've been worrying about

                Make lists!
                Have an order (ie 1 to 10) to do things each day. Also try to anticipate possible problems - as they say forwarned is forearmed.

                  During the move always make sure you know where the kettle and mugs are (you can always pick up your tea, milk.... in a local shop) Best advice is enjoy the move - meeting new friends, apply for an allotment asap, warm sunshine!

                    Remember - the removal companies have done this umpteen times and they are fab. Just let them get on with it. Best of luck!!!

                      I remember you talking about this TiaChica, didn't realise you had gone ahead with it. From your list, it looks as if you are more organised than you think. Hope your little boy has a lovely birthday treat at the water park and that your move goes smoothly. Let us know when you're established and good luck
