  • Caught speeding!

Ive just received a notice of intent to prosecute by the police for speeding..36mph in a 30mph, im not going to give excuses that there were no houses and its not a built up area etc.. i was doing 36 in a 30, bang to rights, im just wondering is this £60 and 3 points?
No offense to anyone but im not looking to be told off and im not looking for a lecture, i was in the wrong and its tough titties for me but im just wondering if this is what i can expect?

Speed camera got me once doing 50 odd in a 40 zone - and yes it was a £60 fine and 3 points for me. I drove like Mr Magoo for a long, long time after that.

I think it is a 60.00 fine and 3 points on your licence, i dont know cos my licence is clean lol......but just to make sure it is you, ask them for a photograph of your car and the driver. My husband was sent a notice of prosecution last year and he argued with them, that he wasnt sure who it was, he asked them for a photograph of the car. They replied that they could not supply a photo and on this occasion, the incident would be cleared without charges. We knew it wasnt us, as it was a hire car at the time and had been returned the day before.

        Good luck

A friend of mine was given the option to do a test, but it cost £100. If she passed, which she did, she didn't get the points on the license. I can't remember all the details now, but she was around 35 in a 30 limit. I don't know if she was given the option in the first notice or not.

Good on you Blue for owning up.
Mr Sheds got done last week - to be honest, he's been lucky so far. He treats the numbers as minimums, not maximums (45 in a 30 zone, 35 in a 20 zone)

I've just filled my form in to opt for a speed awareness course instead of a fine and three points.
£60 for course (same as fine) , 4 hrs long, at a desk and no points! Caught doing 38 in a 30 zone.......no excuses!

same here Snadger, I am paying for the course as I don't want to mucky up my licence - although it is nearer £80 for me to sit the workshop but it does keep me free of points

I was caught 5 or 6 years ago, and at that time had no other option than a £60 fine and 3 points. What they don't tell you, is that when you 'fess-up' to your insurance company they stick another £100 on your premium!

Was it a summons or a fixed penalty notice.

Also was it a plod with a hand=held laser or a mobile gatzo or one of those camera vans?

which is why it is better to opt for the workshop if you are offered it - they don't give you PP's and you do not anything to tell the insurance company.
