  • The case of the lost wallet

Whilst in Tesco this afternoon, I was perusing the deli when I realised that my wallet was no longer in my posession, having fallen out of my shorts (at least nothing else fell out of my shorts) somewhere in store.

As I was bereft of a means to pay for my shopping I hurried to the customer services counter just as a customer handed it in. The wallet was just as I had lost it, including a book of stamps and £240 in cash and my cards.

To say I was relieved was an under statement, the lady in question was glad that it found its owner and refused my offer of a thankyou £20, I did persuade her to let me pay for a bottle of wine to go with her dinner though.

Not all people are arses, just the odd few thankfully.

A big thankyou to the un-named lady, may you live long and prosper.

what an awfull feeling that is,so pleased you got it back, and with speed, have been there myself, both as a child, and my complete hand bag as an adult,my bag i got back aprox 3 weeks later,i wept with joy,it's a shame that a minority of so called people cannot be trusted.

Well, they were a tailored pair and it was warm to be fair. The wallet was a Christmas present from my daughter and is nice italian leather so I am doubly grateful its back.

As for the cash, well, some was for shopping, £60 is for petrol and a £100 for road tax. Normally I have about £20 in it.

Hurrumphed re the honesty and niceness. Equally hurrumphed re that amount of money in my wallet. Just looked in mine and I have a fiver in English, 10 Sudanese pounds, 12 Chaddian Dollars and 3 euro in the loose change bit.
I'm sure that kind lady will be repayed somehow somewhere.

It's just as I have always said - most people are good.
Glad you got your wallet back Piglet. It's not just the money, it's all the other things that live in there - cards, driving licence, insurance, AA membership etc.
My husband lost his a couple of years ago - no dishonesty involved, just lost - and it took months to sort it all out.
Well done that woman for handing it in promptly annd so glad for you Piglet.
