I don't personally think you can use too much! All of the cucurbits grow in well rotted manure and nothing else!

Taller growing plants need there roots in soil for support and carrots and parsnips don't like fresh manure, but apart from that you should thank your lucky stars for manure a plenty!

As I keep horses, there's always more of it than I can use. I've been shovelling it onto my flower beds and veg patch for years. I normally use it as a thick mulch in the winter and then just plant through it in spring/early summer. It will make your ground a bit more acidic, but not to a great extent.

Just don't try planting in fresh stuff

I agree, you can never have enough, as long as it is well rotted. Just remember that certain root crops don't like freshly manured ground as they tend to fork if the soil is too rich.

Potatoes struggle if its overly rich, not in growth you just have to share them with the wigglies.
