Anyhow - I just thought they might have been up to their old tricks.
The only time we have been able to read PMs was the night when we were all logged in as Olivier; not just the mods - everyone that night was logged in as him. And we could ALL see his PMs. So we [well, Sarz] deleted them as soon as we realised as we didn't want everyone to be able to read private stuff.

There is actually a system for reporting Private Messages, the same as reporting posts, to be used in case of spam, harrassment, abuse etc., etc. In the case of a reported PM, then Admin/Mods are able to read the reported PM (but no others) in order to decide how to deal with it.Originally posted by Liza
If there was legal reasons, then Admin would be able to go into the database and find the text of PMs, but there isn't much precedent for that, and as far as I'm aware it's never happened on this site.
