    Can I ask a question please?

    What was the "flying squad" in the UK that has died out in recent years? Something to do with childbirth? Not being a Brit, and being a bit younger than a lot of you, I have only recently come across this in relation to childbirth and havent' a clue what it is about (I always thought it was something to do with actual flying?!).

    Could some one of you wiser grapes educate me please?

        Here's a little bit about it...

        Obstetric Flying Squad: Encyclopedia with 57,945 entries from biotech, medicine & life sciences.

        I think it's basically a back up team for a midwife if there are complications in a home birth. Consists of Drs ....

          Thanks Nicos - I think that is what was being referred to.

          Shirl, thank you too - I knew there was a flying squad that was more common but had even got that one wrong.

            Worked with and on the Police type Sweeny - made Life on Mars etc seem tame!!! And the Wikipedia reference to Ken Drury - worked on a murder with him in Essex, a real gangland fixer called Tony Mafia (no joke, for real name), dog's hind legs and bent come to mind, not a happy experience.
