Campsites ? Anyone go camping ?

We have a caravan and camp every year, Normally go to Long Beach caravan site in Hemsby. Its lovely and the beach is only 100yds over the dunes. Stretch of beach privately owned by site so can walk dogs all year as long as you clean up after them.
Now my sis has moved to Cumbria we will be exploring northwards too soon.

Shell Island, in Wales, tents only but what a place!! I've been going since I was 3, and go back most years, its dog friendly, child friendly and has spectacular views of Snowdonia! take a look at Campsite | Camping | Day Trips | North Wales | Shell Island

Thankfully I've seen sense and no longer camp, gave the gear years ago. Last time camping was in Glencoe, in October, the ground was perma-frost

Time before that Kyle of Lochalsh, hubby and I were flooded out. Hell will freeze over before I camp again. However I think the UK has some of the most beautiful scenery out and camping is an ideal way to explore (if you're into that sort of thing

)

I really enjoy camping/hiking, but the UK isn't ideal: I've had more horrible camps than nice ones, inc. 6 days of torrential rain in Cornwall last year.

We camp every year sometimes! Small tent camping, love it!
We found a fab adults only web site! so peace and quiet for us now.
6 days in the wet and windy- which worse than wet - August (prime time) never again! south coast just got jammed up each morning. We normally go out of kiddies holiday time, sadly had no choice this year.

Went back to 'Tenting' for a couple of years after we pensioned-off our old Caravan. But now back to being fully paid-up members of the 'Tin Tent and Shed-Puller' Brigade

There are some lovely Caravan sites in and around Suffolk/Norfolk/Cambridgeshire, so we seldom venture any further. We are planning a longer-range trip for next year though!

We've always gone camping, things have changed over the years and sites do get crowded so we've joined the 'Caravan and camping club' least with them there's rules on pitch distance and nose. Their holiday meets are good value at �6 a night per unit if you don't mind taking your own loo and stuff.
We did look at Dandys but I love the smell of canvas so we bought a Combi-camp trailer tent instead.

When we had 2 boys, we decided that we ought to try camping. We tried and enjoyed it. Now we have 3 young boys and it is an ideal getaway with them. We went twice last year, didn't venture too far with the baby. We went to Ashbourne (Derbyshire) & Blackmore C&CC site (Worcs). We have been toying with the idea of getting a folding trailer tent that we could attach an awning too just so that we could get away more and not have to worry so much about the possibility of pitching our big tent in the rain with 3 kids. We wanted to get away more last year, but found you couldn't trust weather forecasts. It would say it was going to rain, so we decided to wait for the following week, then it was going to be glorious by that time, everywhere was booked up.

I went to the Cornish site this Summer. Almost got washed away but it was lovely. The couple that run it put on live music in the barn which was lovely!

We love camping and part of the fun is trying out different places, the beauty of it being you can move after one night if you don't like it. The only site we return to again and again is in Flamborough ('The Grange') small, family run place without all the bells and whistles apart from loo, water, showers and electric hook-ups, though the price reflects that and all other amenities are available in the village. It is, however, North and East, which is precisely the opposite to what you want. There's a very cheap and cheerful site at Burtle in Somerset, mid-way between Glastonbury and the coast that we've stayed at a couple of times (the main advantage being that it's in an orchard at the back of the pub) and we spent a week in one near Poole in Dorset, lovely campsite, but I hated the area so we've never been back. Other than that we tend to just stay places for 2 or 3 nights and move on, so although we've been to hundreds in our time, they all tend to run into one after a while. Once you've found somewhere, chat to the other campers too, they'll recommend other sites in the area and also tell you which ones to avoid. In our experience it's far better to go for a site on the outskirts or in the next village to the place where you want to stay, they tend to be cheaper and more laid back about things such as barbecues and dogs and spontaneous games of tennis.

We're happy campers too. Went to this farm near the Forest of Dean and had a lovely time. It helped that a wonderful pub was round the corner.

We did go to Pembrokshire in August, but the weather was soooooooooooo bad that we only survived a night.

Love camping, best place ever was in Cromer, norfolk, also there is a great place in Coverack, Cornwall called little Tresomethinorother.......

As much as we love our holidays abroad, we also love going camping, if you are looking at Camping down South then you need to try Hollands Wood, brockenhurst, New Forest, Hampshire.

Probably one of the best campsite we have been to, and regulary go back a couple of times a year, The campsite is a big'en, has about 600pitches, mind it does get busy, very busy during peak times but it's worth it being able to camp in the woods and near the New Forest Ponies.

waking up in the morning to see Cows walking through the site with calfs in tow is also a funny site, not to menthion if you go into town you will see Cows and Horses just wandering up and down the road.

Ashurst is also a good one, just up from Lyndhurst (Hampshire) it's half the size of the Hollands and a little more out of the way but it has a great pub next door.

The New Forest Sites are a little more pricey than others but well worth the money.
