I had the same with my fuji finepix600z - i got the replacement batteries off ebay and made sure I always carried 2 around with me as it's sooooooo annoying when the camera goes flat. Good luck.

My experience with Fuji has always been good (touch wood) and I stipulated Fuji when purchasing my new camera. However my last (a Nikon) was a disaster battery wise. There must have been a fault in it because despite buying several new batteries it still drained them in a couple of days. The new Fuji lasts well - no complaints (yet!).

Yes, Danny - my Fujifilm S5500 is a monster for batteries - and it doesn't register when I re-charge the re-chargeables and load them in: it likes new all the time!

Anyone tried the new hybrid batteries? (Sony eneloop etc) - I used them in my camera and they last for ages and don't drain in long periods of no use.

Is it a video camera, as you say you film buses, or a digital picture camera?
As said before in the thread, it is well worth investing in acouple or more batteries.
Also a good idea to get more than one memory card (if a picture camera) as they fill up and can corrupt

I would advice always buy a good make of memory card too.

I always use Nikon or Leica, and only them. Iused to use Minolta but once I picked up a Nikon that was it for me.

My OH has a small compact canon which is a really nifty little thing and produces good quality pictures.

My Fuji S5800 just adores batteries. I always have 4 charged sets in the case cos you can guarantee it'll pack in at the wrong time. I have just received an order for GP ReCyko 2100mAh. We'll see how they go.

For me, it was definitely the battery that had the problem - 2 new ones and it was sorted. I also got an incar charger for that particular camera. My new one (fuji s500) only takes the 'normal' aa batteries which is less hassle but not so Green

Hmmm sounds interesting - what style of battery are they? traditional 'pencil' or the newer phone style battery?

My camera holds normal AA pencil batteries not the oblong ones Also, how expensive?

My new requisition is a Nikon D90 + 18-105m lens kit (bought with some Christmas money), I already have a Nikon 4800 & P50 as you can tell I'm a BIG Nikon fan, I really don't have any trouble with the battery life in my cameras, and as northepaul said Get good quality SD cards, don't use the same one over & over again.

I got a Kodak digital camera to take pics for ebay just the other month and weve gone through about 20 battery changes already. Its not so bad when you are using it but it seems to drain when its switched off and not in use!

One small point(I know I'm stating the obvious) but if you use "FLASH or video the battery life is very short.
My Nikon D50 comes with a battery pack(rechargeable) & have found it is better not to use flash if at all possible.

I also have a C340 Kodak Digital camera, I thought it was the bee's at the time (2005) but I couldn't agree more it was horrendous when it came to batteries, even lithium batteries didn't last long in it (very expensive 5 years ago), I don't use it now, its back in its box where its staying, it does/did take great photos though.

My Fuji Finepix (sorry, can't remember the model, it's quite old and looks like a dinky SLR) eats batteries too. It takes four standard AAs, and I have to take them out each time I finish using the camera, because if I didn't, they'd be flat by the next time.

Aye, turn the flash off AND the imager on the back that shows the picture.....it drains the battery like nobody's business. I had a fuji 5500 and used rechargeables otherwise it would have cost more than the camera; but my Nikon D90 lasts ages once charged up. My D50 that I had before that did 2000 shots in between charges; but I never used flash [it was a personal challenge not to].
