  • BUPA Manchester 10K - again!

    Hi Grapes!

I'm posting to ask a favour from you...

Last year, I ran my first 10K in Manchester, for the specialist cancer charity that has helped my sister.

I've been persuaded to do it again this year, but instead, I'm running for the Christie Hospital. It's a place that is very close to our family, that we've all spent a lot of time in over the last few years.

As you may know, I was recently an outpatient at Christies whilst having my stem cells harvested. My sister was then in pressurised isolation for over a month after the transplant.
The care from all the staff at Christies has been fabulous, from the cleaners to the receptionists, to the doctors and nurses who have treated me and my sister.

For those that are able/would like to sponsor me, the link is: Shelley & Mark run another 10K

My sister has had some great news today also, her bone marrow tests have come back with a result of 100% of the transplant cells have 'taken'; and also, there has been no further growth of the cancer cells since December. She has, so far (97 days post transplant) had no 'graft vs host' disease; and they are talking about taking out her Hickman line, and moving her down to fortnightly visits, instead of weekly ones. She has a way to go yet, but the news is positive!

Only just read the whole of the original post , that's great news about your Sister, it must be such a relief for you all. I was sorry to read your other post about her infertility though, that's very sad.
