Default british movies, refugees and allotments

Yep you read that right.

there's a British movie about to be released called grow your own following the lives of some refugees who were given allotments to help overcome their trauma. Set in Liverpool and it seems only to be released in liverpool (so far).

In case your interested and we get a rainy day:

No comment seems to be the safest course at the moment!

Frank Cottrell-Boyce says the real-life story of the refugees and the allotments captured his imagination immediately, and he knew there was a feature film to be made.

“Carl Hunter took me to a real place with the real people, and it’s a day I’ll never forget. I met people on that allotment who’d walked through minefields and swum through rivers while being shot at, people who had very little, but still found a way to be happy. I found that very chastening and very uplifting. And very worth telling,” says Frank.

Although Grow Your Own tells a fictional story, it is based on the experiences of the refugee asylum seekers who were helped by the Liverpool allotment project.

Sounds good.

Some with a flattering view here: http://imdb.com/title/tt0847830/

That said, I would suggest that people who post comments on a film website are likely to be "buffs" and may possibly over-analise. Maybe.

Most appeared to have enjoyed it. Wonder when it comes out on DVD...

The "Guardian" Flum, all my illusions dashed.

The allotment could have been filmed on our site as we have an eclectic mix of people. None seem to be refugees though. It makes it easy to learn how to grow different crops thats for sure, I can now grow corriander to make your eyes bleed and as for mooli etc, like elephants trunks!!!!

It's a long while since a young man had any sort of 'illusions' about me - dashed or not!
