Our youngest grandaughter is 18yrs old. Since then we have welcomed 12 beautiful baby boys unto the fold. Today we learned the news that the next greatgranchild is to be a baby girl. It makes no sense - so why am I weeping?

I don't see why it should make sense? Life rarely does - I seldom do!

Tears of happiness Bren, nothing wrong with that, weep away for as long as you feel like it and then big smiles in anticipation of your first great granddaughter - congratulations!

Big congratulations - personally I cry at all the good family news - I think they'd be upset now if I didn't! Don't blame it on anything any more, it's what I do!

Having a girl after having four boys myself you can imagine what I was like.
My dad always wanted a son but got three daughters had he lived to see any grandchildren born he would have had five grandsons, he would have been over the moon. ( and three grandaughters ).
Congratulations, cry all you like cos its only tears of happiness.
