  • Best Crop This Year So Far?

Is this thread in the wrong place? Apologies....

The garden has struggled, this year, to produce anything worthwhile. I don't grow too very much these days as the chooks take up most of the space. My salad growbags rotted in the rain, ditto the herb pots. The tomatoes are still green.....I do hope we get a few ripe ones soon.

The apple trees were ok until that last lot of thunder and high winds. One tree is devoid of little hard fruit now, the other more sheltered tree still has most of it's fruit. We did get a goodly crop on the cherry tree but they were eaten by the chooks before I could get to them.

My best crop so far this year is the Alpine Strawberries. They have produced a good handful of tiny berries every day for the past 8 weeks or more. I love them; the really ripe ones are almost like little strawberry sweeties!

The wind and the Fifties Grey chicks stripped my raspberry canes but since they've gone the rasps made a bit of a come back and today I was rewarded with a handful for elevenses!

Try air-brushing!! Seems to get rid of unwanted bit and pieces after a photo shoot.

same as patchninja - the beans are doing great this year, picking a couple of pounds of frenchies twice a week and the same with the runners - as i predicted they are all coming at once

its only beans and white turnips that are doing well in my garden.
might have a cabbage ready next weekend and maybe a cauli in a couple of weeks if i talk nice to it...
on the question of airbrushing.. can i get rid of slugs by taking a photo of them, then airbrushing them away?
                          Its Grand to be Daft...

                            Tomatoes.
Loads of Roma & San Marzano have gone in the freezer in various ways. In fact the freezer is now so stuffed I'm just lobbing in loose toms to fill the nooks and crannies.
Prince Borghese has given us almost half a kilo (dried weight) of sun dried and I chucked out a whole tray that went mouldy in a wet spell.
Plenty of GD & Ola Polka for lunches everyday since mid June.
Marmande & St Pierre have rolled along giving enough for cooking/stuffing for 6 weeks or so. St Pierre is lovely, big round flavoursome and fleshy - highly recommended!
                            First blight yesterday...

Everything else is average or pants. Peppers are six weeks behind, aubergines four and I think the entire dry bean harvest will run out in less than a month!
