  • B. Gas - utterly useless

    Just venting ...

    B.Gas

we moved house 3 months ago. They are still writing to us at the old house. 3 letters a week sometimes.

I phoned, emailed & wrote to them ~ and they insisted they had our new address on file. Still the letters went to our old house.

I then wrote a single sheet of paper WE DO NOT LIVE AT 1 VICTORIA ROAD in the biggest typeface I could.

Magic! An apology arrived, at our new house. All was well.

Until we received a letter this week informing us we were now being supplied for gas at an address in Eastbourne ! How on earth ?

We had a very similar experience when we moved!!(except they lost all our details(inc bank account!!)& we were getting letters saying if we didn't register we'd be cut off,but apologies if we had & to ignore the letters! So knowing we had not only registered but also set up direct debits,we ignored!!(almost had a christmas with no gas!!)
So I had to have a little chuckle with(at)the salesman that came round the other day asking if we'd like to come back to them!!!

Not half as much divots as the Benefits Agency, they have been telling us that they have been overpaying us since 2004. In all this time I have rung them, mailed them and written to them, made umpteen appeals and finally they sent us a letter this week saying surprise surprise that they have not met their usual standard and they haven't overpaid us but in fact owe us money.

Perhaps I can sweet talk OH into letting me refelt the shed roof.
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

I had this with my television licence years ago. They kept telling me I didnt have a tv licence but I knew I did and could find it if need be. I wrote numerous letters with the details but they kept on insisting that I didnt have one. In the end I wrote and told them in no uncertain terms that if they got my address correct they would see that I did indeed have one they insisted that I lived in a village called bishopsteington when in fact I lived in the town of Teignmouth just down the road. Never heard from them again. But it did worry me at the time and what if I had been elderly things like this can be very disturbing for them.

pfff! BG are rubbish, they were billing me twice on the same adress, same name, just one as miss and one as mrs, and still argued the point.

I switched to EDF, they are fantastic, especially their customer services, could teach BG a thing or two.

We had trouble with B.Gas at the old place too ... they'd cancel direct debits for no reason, and they even sent 2 bills to an entirely different house in our road (11 instead of 1)

Mistakes are one thing, we all make them. But continually? And they never apologise.

              like I said, utterly useless

I highly recommend EDF, when I swapped, BG 'stole' me back without my permission, claiming to EDF i had cancelled the swap, when I rang BG, they then refused to let me go on the grounds I now owed them money, which I didn't. talking to them was sooo frustrating they had me in tears on the phone, and thats not easy with me.
i phoned edf and told them what had happened, and they put me through to their own special department for dealing with BG, who then told me NOT to contact BG again, and they would deal with it all for me, and they did, within days it was all sorted, and a written admission from BG arrived confirming that I didn't owe them a penny.

I had a similar experience but I just contacted the local OFGEM office and they gave me a phone number and a contact to ask for and I tolfd them I'd been in touch with OFGEM and they's given me the number and hey presto it was sorted that day and I recieved compensation and a grovelling letter saying they'd sack the sales man ... I don't think they did mind you. The ones that really hack me off are the nupties that are employed as double glazing salespersons.

A few months ago we had new windows fitted and despite the fact the bods were just clearing up some tw8t knocked the door and asked if I was interested. After doing my finest impression of Chubby Brown and Bernard Manning they went away - the guys who'd just fitted our windows were in fits of laughter in there van and couldn't drive for about 10 minutes

oh I think I might just be able to cap that
back in the eighties, just when the housing market boom was in full swing, my phone was ringing off the hook with tele-sales people pushing me to have a conservatory fitted, I got so fed up in the end that I agreed to have a quote done and arranged an appointment. I invited a few select friends and we had a few drinkies, and then had a great laugh at the blokes expense when he arrived.
Imagine his surprise!! we lived in a second floor flat!!
He was none too pleased, especially when I explained that i HAD told their tele-sales people several times that I lived in a flat, and could he please explain to all of us how they figured they were going to fit it to the back of the building thankyou.

needless to say, they stopped cold caling me after that

Well, a Very Clever Grape gave me the MD's personal email address, so I told him of my problems. I got a reply by return promising to call me today and sort it all out.
He wasn't overly impressed by my use of the word 'half-wits', and reminded me that at least B.Gas is a British company.
That may be so, but I need a reliable supply ... I'd prefer to employ Brits rather than, say, Indians, but they need to get themselves in order. With service like I've had, they don't deserve my business.

EDF is a french company i believe, not that i have ever spoken to someone with a french accent, however much I agree with buying british, that shouldn't give a british company the right to behave as if they have a monopoly, nor to treat their customers the way they do.

EDF is a French company, they are in the process of buying British Energy at the mo too. Half of EDF is owned by the State. So pretty soon a sizeable chunk of British Energy will be owned by the French Government.......

Half wits would be 50% over-qualified to work for Woolwich/Barclays mortgages. Every time I contact them for any reason, they mess it up. Last time they made a fundamental change to the structure of our mortgage which was exactly the opposite of what I'd asked them to do. When I phoned them, the person I spoke to promised they'd put it right. Two days later I got a letter from them telling me that if I wanted them to make the change (i.e. undo their own mistake) I'd have to send them a cheque for £50 first!

WOW TS, I wish a clever grape would give me the personal email address of the MD at BT then maybe we'd get broadband.

It's as if we live in Outer Bleeding Mongolia here

Gas whassat then we even have a massive genny for the power cuts we get when it's a tad windy or snowy or wet, so we can keep the office going.
