As a familly of animal lovers my kids often wonder what people without animals do, how they cope.
My daughter has frequently come home from her fathers and said.............Sigh, sometimes you just NEED to hug an animal. He doesn't have any animals and she finds it hard to cope for a week or two without them.

Cleo very rarely leaves me. She might go and do necessary cat things, but I don't think I spend half an hour in any 24 without her. When I'm upset she never leaves my side. If I have cause to shout she gets most upset. I think she thinks I'm distressed. She hates it when we go away for a few days, first thing I have do to when we get back is give her some love & cuddles.

Sounds very like the story in the book "A Friend like Ben, the cat who came home for Christmas"

What a lovely story. I was never a cat lover and ended up looking after daughters friends blind cat and fell in in love with him . When he went we homed a fluffy tabby from sanctuary in cheshunt , much to my hubby's dismay . this cat now has the life of Riley and is totally adored especially by husband who will say hello to him before me. He wanted to this cat on holiday with us to Devon.( we 're not) but we will miss him as much as he will miss us.
I can quite believe cats can be tuned in to people and can be a very calming influence. I can't imagine being without our Louis now and will always want a cat around.
